COMMUNITY HOUSE
PROJECT REPORT
2002-3

INTRODUCTION

THIS REPORT of the ecumenical project with the World Student Christian Federation and the World Council of Churches is laid out like the floor plan of our Community House.

Each different part of the house symbolizes a different aspect of the project and our life together.

There were six of us that lived in the House from September 2002 until April 2003. A seventh person joined us halfway through the year. The group of us includes: Natalie Maxson, Wade Lifton, David Ball, David Parsons, Malcolm Odell, Jennifer Preston and Rose Fuchs.

Planning for the Community House began after the first ecumenical training seminar in Cuba, November 2002. The Community House was in Victoria, British Columbia in western Canada.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

Who We Are
We have been inspired by the example of the Catholic Worker, who dare to build a just, sustainable and compassionate society. We are an intentional community, living and working together, striving to inspire ourselves and others.

Our Vision

  • Welcoming others into our home, a place of refuge, expression, creativity and celebration.
  • Challenging corporate capitalism and the violence it relies on, and working for social justice to transform ignorance and oppression.
  • Living simply, respectful of the earth.
  • Providing an inclusive environment to explore, express and live spirituality and ritual both traditionally and non-traditionally.
